11th July 2006, 6.45 pm, Mumbai.

A series of bombs were detonated in different trains plying from Churchgate station during rush hour claiming 200 lives and injuring over 700 people. All this happened within a span of 11 minutes. Widespread panic followed thus leaving the city in turmoil. The country declared a high alert, disruption of all travel related services was the outcome. And the authorities cleaned up all the debris including the mangled bodies by 10.45 pm (Within 4 hours of the attacks). Their main goal, to restore peace and to continue life as we normally saw it. Or in other words, they didn't want the citizens to realise the truth. "We Are Cowards".

Here, i'd like to remember an incident that stirred up the world a few years ago.

On September 5th, the Palestinian terrorist organisation Black September took eleven Israeli atheletes hostage and eventually killed them.

Israeli Intelligence or The Mossad launched a counter attack so powerful, they redefined the word "Vendetta". Revenge is not looked upon as justice by the law. But such an act of terrorism needs to be dealt with the saying, "An eye for an Eye".

And then recently, there was the 2005 London Bombings.

The wreckage (including the bodies) were left untouched and the stations closed down for about a month. The reason, they wanted to know exactly what happened and how. The forensic inspectors worked 24/7 throughout this month putting together all the pieces of the clues and debris. The point, is that they did everything humanly possible so that nothing like this ever happened again.

This is where they differ from us.

The Indian Railways employs roughly around 1.6 million people, setting the record for the largest commercial or utility employer. Had we, like London closed down the stations and done our duties, we would have had the persons responsible long ago. But the money the government makes every year crosses 12,000 crores. Here, they chose not to lose 1000 crores rather than bringing justice to the victims. Summing it up in a few points :

1 - The government is inefficient and doesnt seem to care about it's people.

2 - The population of this country is so large, the government is not entirely to blame.

3 - There's just too many people who don't care about anyone but themselves.

4 - And hence, working as a team is out of the question for us.

5 - Unity in diversity ?

I see a lot of diversity. But so far, there has been no sign of unity.
